Pútóg
Scientific Name:
Trisopterus luscus

Description

If you are looking for consistent bites from the boat, pouting are a reliable target throughout the summer months of May to August. Galway Bay, Wicklow, and Dungarvan represent the go-to venues where anglers frequently land good numbers. Success is best achieved by using fresh frozen fillets or a combination of rag and mackerel. Although they are not the largest species, pouting are incredibly spirited and provide fun, action-packed sessions. They tend to congregate in deeper water marks around reefs and wrecks, often providing a quick pull when other species are slow. A practical tip is to keep your bait size modest, as pouting have relatively small mouths that can miss larger, bulkier offerings.
